It looks like players looking to get their hands on Square Enix’s upcoming Forspoken will be able to try the game before its release next year via a free demo. The Forspoken demo has yet to be officially announced, but Sony has been fine with leaks this week, and the official PlayStation Japan Twitter account has leaked the existence of the demo.

Yesterday, the English-speaking world’s official PlayStation Twitter account posted a brief announcement stating that Forspoken will be getting an extensive game showcase on December 9. Otherwise.

However, the PlayStation Japan Twitter account, which posted almost the same tweet, albeit in Japanese, also added a thumbnail for the attached video clip, which took the cat out of the bag early on. The thumbnail includes the phrase “Forspoken Demo Announcement Trailer” in English. The tweet, naturally, has since been removed, but not before it was screenshotted by fans with eagle eyes and quick fingers.

This isn’t Sony’s first leak of the week, as the platform owner has also leaked Street Fighter 6’s release date and various digital editions and pre-order bonuses on the PlayStation Store. Street Fighter 6 is expected to be revealed in some form during today’s The Game Awards 2022, where an official release date will most likely be announced. However, given that the game showcase is set for the next day, December 9, it may not be Forspoken, suggesting Square Enix doesn’t want its upcoming game to compete for attention.

The Forspoken game showcase is set to Dec 9 at 10:00 PT / 18:00 GMT. The showcase will run for approximately 11 minutes, and fans can expect to see brand new gameplay scenes and more of the game world.

Forspoken will be out for PS5 and PC on January 24, 2023, and since its release date is so close, it’s safe to assume any demos will be released in the not-too-distant future.
